Sales Tax Deduction for Washington State for Gas

I intend to itemize Washington State Sales tax in 2025 (or at least, to save my receipts to determine whether I should itemize versus taking the standard deduction).  Gas stations do not print tax information on receipts, but the tax rate is $.528/gallon.  If I save my receipts am I "safe" to calculate the value and hand write on the receipt?  Where would I find written guidance? TIA

Your method for calculating sales tax on your gas receipts is just fine.  As long as you are consistent and use the method that you are describing you should be fine at an audit.

The IRS uses a flat algorithm to calculate the amount of sales tax you can deduct based on your income and where you live.  You can find the calculator here.
