Return rejected due to taxpayer claiming me, how to fix?

Yes, you are likely going to continue to experience the rejection.  You will not be able to e-file this year and you are going to have to print and mail your return to the IRS.  It can take up to 16 weeks for the IRS to actually process the amended return that was sent and, even then, the e-file system is likely to stay locked with your SSN for the remainder of the tax year.

The best course of action is to switch from e-file to paper file and mail your returns.  The IRS will process the paper return like any other normal return and pay your refund accordingly.  Eventually, they would cross-check it to see if you were claimed by another person, but, by that time, the amended return will be processed.

The alternative is to file an extension and to keep trying to e-file after the amended return is processed.  But, again, the e-file system is a separate system and there is no guarantee it will update at all.
