Return rejected because Form4972lnd must have Form 4972 attached. This is a worksheet that should auto generate based on 1099 responses but is not. Programming error?

I deleted and downloaded/re-entered the 1099 in questions, but no changes.  Seems like Form 4972 is for people born prior 1936

Questions related to a 1099 are not auto generating the relevant Worksheet/Form.

Spouse has Edward Jones IRA that takes monthly dispersal.  I have a Simple IRA  that I took 2 withdrawals last year.  We are both in our 60's and do not receive Social Security yet.  Both received a 1099 related to our withdrawals.  Neither IRA was inherited, rolled over or put into an health account. Yet, per TurboTax, there should be a Form 4972 and attached to our return.  This is a programming error where the answered questions should auto generate any required Worksheet or Form, including said Form 4972/Form4972lnd.  Please fix and include in the next Update.

NO response from Turbo Tax; not surprised.

I am getting the same error message while using the desktop version of TurboTax Premier.  We have one IRA from which we took regular distributions through 2021 for which we received a 1099-R from the financial institution.  We  did not take a total distribution nor was it an inherited account.  Based on reading the IRS documentation for Form 4972, because it was not inherited, nor a total distribution, nor was the owner born before 1936, there is no reason for Form 4972 to be required.  How do we resolve this?

I had the same problem and no matter what I did my returns kept getting rejected related to 4972.  I called Turbo Tax and they had no clue - I did what they suggested and nothing worked.

Finally I found someone who found the problem. An unknown entry on one of the 1040 schedules - I think Schedule 3 line D3?  Somehow a number  - in my case $325 was there and this is on the line for taxes from a final lump sum distribution which is what 4972 i for.  I zeroed out that number and I refiled again and this time it worked.

It has to be a turbo tax bug  - my guess is from the auto import of broker info - but I am not sure _ All  know is I have no idea why that $325 tax was there.

If you are influential at TurboTax this has to be a bug.  If you google this issue there are many people struggling with the same issue. If I didn't find someone who came up with a workaround I would have overpaid my taxes and have been forced to file paper returns.

And the person I spoke with from TurboTax had no clue and said he couldn't find this as an issue - WRONG!
