My husband and I did not get married until February this year, therefore we are filling separate and I chose to file as single. In order for me to file the dependent care credit, I have to have my dependents listed, but I don’t claim them since my husband made more money meaning he covered more than half the costs. I have tried to fix and file my tax return three times now and still get the reject code SEIC-F1040-506-04
Edit 3/25/26: Resolved. Since I cannot delete my post I guess I can update y’all that I was able to just get an IP PIN from IRS and once I put it into TurboTax, my tax returns were accepted.

If you are legally married as of 12/31/2025 and are living together you can only file your tax return as Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately. If you file as MFS than you are not eligible for the Child and Dependent Care Credit.
If you were not legally married in 2025 and you are not claiming the children on your tax return you are not eligible for the Child Tax Credit or the Child and Dependent Care Credit.
"My husband and I did not get married until February this year, therefore we are filling separate and I chose to file as single."
Your post is confusing. By February "this year" do you mean you got married in February 2025 or 2026? Then you say you are filing "separate" which implies a filing status of married filing separately, and next you say you "chose to file as single".
Please explain clearly when you got married and what filing status you are using for your 2025 tax return.
My children were listed as “Nondependent” on my tax return, but I needed to list them in order to file that my Dependent Care Savings Account was used since it is a pre-taxed account. The account is under my name and my paychecks route to it, which is why I need to file the claim, not my now husband. This is resolved. All I needed was my IP PIN. It kept showing error since our children were claimed by him already. Thanks anyway
