Federal Return was rejected. TTax indicates
If Form 1040, "IRADistrbutionRolloverInd", "IRADistributionQCDInd" or "IRADdistributionOtherInd" is checked, then "IRADistributionsAmt' or 'TaxableIRAAmnt' must have a non-zero value.
This return cannot be filed at this time due to a processing error that will be corrected on March 13, 2026. On or after this date, open the rejected return, review for errors, and resubmit the return for electronic filing."
(ScreenShot below)
Does this error indicate something the filer can correct or something that INTUIT/Employer/IRS is going to correct?
Thanks in advance,
Scott

This is something that needs a software update that should be coming out overnight Thursday.
This is something that needs a software update that should be coming out overnight Thursday.
I have three conversions. Two from 401K pre-tax to IRA Rollover (code: G). And one from 401K in-plan-roth-conversion to Roth IRA Rollover (code: H). Do you know which one causes the issue?
Hopefully the problem will resolve with the software update on Thursday.
A few questions:
- Will this update be made overnight Wednesday/early Thursday?
- When will I know if the software update has been made?
- Does this mean I can just refile my taxes when the software is updated?
- Will I get charged again? Or will TurboTax know that the error is theirs and my original payment is sufficient?
Thank you.
I got the same error. When this is patch on March 13, 2026. Would I be able to e-file or the amendment must be mailed?
I am going to wait until Friday morning to see if the update corrected the problem. If the same error and rejection occurs then all of us will have to post about this again. If you are referring to the filing fee, I believe it is for a successful filing. My rejected filings in past years have never resulted in additional fees.
I suggest using efile again. Amending a returning would not be appropriate until you have an accepted efile or have mailed a paper return.
I called the support number about this error and the person confirmed that there would be no charge for re-filing. I have been researching and I believe that in my case I only had 401k rollovers which are reported on line 5, and when the software is fixed, should see that the rollover box on line 4 is no longer checked, which is what is causing the return to be rejected..
Has the software update been made?
Premier version updated but whether it resolved the problem will have to wait a bit to see if the efile is accepted.
Odd. I'm still getting the following message when I try to "fix" the filing:
This return cannot be filed at this time due to a processing error that will be corrected on March 13, 2026. On or after this date, open the rejected return, review it for errors, and resubmit the return for electronic filing.
After the TTax update, I was advised to restart the OS to have it take effect. I'm on a Win11 platform. Without changing anything in the return except the date of the debit from my checking, it had a Fed Acceptance in about an hour.
I still have this issue on March 13th turbotax please provide an update on when this will be fixed.
You may have a different issue. How did you update? Did you include a machine restart with your update?
