No.

 

F8962 is for the Premium Tax Credit, related to the Marketplace insurance.

 

Note that the Marketplace COULD be an HDHP which is used with an HSA, but this reject has to do with form 8962, not 8889.

That error is because you need to file a Form 8962.  That form is only available after you have entered a Form 1095-A.

 

To enter, edit or delete your Form 1095-A -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Medical
  • On Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A), click the start or update button

Or enter 1095-a in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1095-a

I called Marketplace and I forgot I had inquired about insurance in 2022. I never got the insurance that I had inquired about. I stated I didn't have a 1095-A on my taxes but it was still rejected.

@turner422 Unfortunately the IRS has flagged you for having marketplace insurance and expects to see a Form 1095-A and a Form 8962 on your 2023 tax return .

 

Your best option is to call the IRS, speak with an agent to get that flag removed from your account.  If the IRS cannot or will not remove the flag then your only other option is to print and mail your tax return.

 

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
