Refund decreased $6k once my wife income was added WHY? We entered all of her info and she was a bit short but why $6k?

Any increase in income can:

  1.  Move you into a higher tax bracket;
  2.  Make more of your Social Security benefits taxable;
  3.  Reduce or eliminate some deductions and credits.

But check your data entry for any typos, such as commas or decimals.  The refund meter is pretty useless, though, until you are completely finished.
