Read that notice again ... efiling has closed for the 2019 returns and the 2020 returns will not open until sometime late January. 

Did it say you could download the 2020 program by chance ?

Turbotax will open e-filing on January 7, 2021 for at least some taxpayers, although you may still not be able to file if the tax program is not yet fully updated for your tax situations.  However, the IRS will not open e-filing until January 27, so early returns will just sit in cold storage until the IRS opens for the season.
