Real estate taxes not $10,000

If a MFJ filer is itemizing, I thought they are allowed a max of $10,000 for real estate taxes?  Why would they get allowed something under say $5000?

The limit applies to more than just property taxes.

Taxpayers who itemize may deduct up to $10,000 of property, sales, or income taxes already paid to state and local governments

Understood.  So it should show $10,000.   I recall a number smaller than $10,000 but can’t find it now.  Where do you go to check what the total amount being limited is in the software?  I thought it was under Federal Review but I don’t see it anymore.
