Why does my state tax say “started?”

If the status of your state return says "Started," then your state tax return(s) is incomplete. It hasn't been finished or filed.

Why does my state tax say “started?”

why still says started

Why does my state tax say “started?”

I have the same question. My federal return has been accepted, but my state return still shows as "started." I have the receipt that shows that I paid for e-filing both federal and state returns. I don't understand. Please help.

When you e-filed both your state and federal together all of your state forms may not have been available yet. This would have caused the state return not to be e-filed at that time.  If all of your state forms are available now, you can submit your state tax return by following the steps below:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax.
  2. Under Your tax returns & documents, select Show, and then select 2019.
  3. Now select Add a state (this reopens your return).
  4. Select State from the left menu (on mobile devices, tap in the upper-left corner to open the menu).
  5. On the Let's get your state taxes done right screen, select Continue and follow the instructions.
