Tax caster is only an estimating tool that lets you enter "some" of your information to get an idea of your refund/tax due.  When you enter all of the data into the actual software, then it gets much more detailed and precise.

Why did taxcaster say i was getting back 3150 and turbotax said 2115

TaxCaster really doesn't have the gory details on has to enter in their actual tax return. 

So TaxCaster is just a gross estimate.

 

Do not actually file until well after 1 Feb...Also, print out your tax returns first, and look for items you might have missed entering...this is really critical.  It is unlikely that you have all your tax forms yet this early in the filing season.
