The 1099-G is issued if you received certain payments from federal, state, or local governments. Form 1099-G covers two types of government payments:

What was reported on your form ?
What kind of 1099G do you have? You might be in the wrong spot. You do not enter it in the same place as a 1099Misc.
Is it for unemployment? Federal>Wages and Income>Unemployment
State or Local tax refund? Federal>Wages and Income>State and Local Tax REfunds on Form 1099G
Government pension, taxable grant, etc? Federal>Wages and Income>Other 1099G Income
