What should I file if I'm still married on paper but we haven't lived together or been together for 7 years?

married filing separate or joint if no dependents or file as head of household if you pay more than 1/2 of the cost of keeping up a home for yourself and at least one child who lived with you for more than 1/2 the year.

I'm married filing separately but still live in the same household as my spouse. I'm claiming our child as a dependent but I need to know how many allowances to put?
