Solar tax credit

We qualified for AMT credit and also purchased/installed our solar system in 2018. Applying our solar credit did not affect our tax liability amount. Can we carry over our full solar credit and apply in a later year where it can reduce our federal tax? If so, how can we do that in Turbo Tax?

Solar tax credit

Please check if that which is hilighted may apply to you. This is from https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/energy-incentives-for-individuals-residential-property-updated-question...

the residential energy property credit is limited to an overall lifetime credit limit of $500 ($200 lifetime limit for windows). There are also other individual credit limitations:

  • $50 for any advanced main air circulating fan
  • $150 for any qualified natural gas, propane, or oil furnace or hot water boiler
  • $300 for any item of energy-efficient building property
