In August 2022 I received a property tax rebate (passed by the NYC Council). It was a rebate of $700 dollars.
I received the benefit because I am currently receiving the STAR benefit.
Each year I reduce my property taxes by the dollar amount I received with the STAR benefit.
Question: Do I need to also reduce my property taxes by the dollar amount of the rebate check I received?

Yes. Reduce your real estate taxes paid by the total amount of the homeowner tax rebate credit received during the tax year;

Many thanks 🙂
Did you receive the New York City "Property Tax Rebate" check - $150?
did you reduce it from property taxes as well?
Yes. When a property tax rebate is received then the property taxes paid for the calendar year must be reduced for the amount refunded. This applies only if deductions were itemized. You can review the link above or posted here for your convenience.
You do not reduce your property tax payment for the credit when applying for the NY Real Property Tax Relief Credit.
