Negative numbers on 1a and 1b line of 1099-Div

Hi,

I have negative numbers on my 1a and 1b 1099-Div form from Robinhood. When I try to import my Robinhood forms, the 1099-Div doesn't show up. When I try to manually enter my 1099-Div, TurboTax says negative numbers aren't allowed. How do I enter this into TurboTax?

don't report such a 1099-DIV.

There is no tax on negative income.

Did you actually get paid  a dividend of -1 x that amount?

Thanks for your reply. I believe the negative value is due to dividends owed from options. If the dividend is negative, can you not claim it as a loss?

short dividends you pay go on either

a) adjustment to basis, or

b) schedule A

depending on your holding period.

you won't pay dividends on options

only on short stock that is dividend-paying.

I was in a similar situation where I was holding the short option and liable to pay dividend because of how Robinhood closed my options.

so I ended up paying dividends for someone from my pocket.
