My state refund (CA) is more than $500 than Turbotax said I'd get back. I won't see my Federal refund since it goes to owed previous years. Why/how is it higher?

We do not have access to your return or account here, as this is a public forum. I recommend contacting the California FTB regarding this. Please click here to be brought to a directory of state contact information.

So when there's changes that Federal/State make on my returns that I submitted through Turbox Tax, you don't get the updated filing?

No, once your return is filed with the state, the state only contacts you regarding any changes.

That information is not shared with TurboTax.

Usually the state sends a letter after it sends out the refund explaining any changes.  It may take a week or two after you receive the refund to get the letter.

if you don't get the letter, contact the FTB for an explanation.
