Enter your AGI as it appears on your originally filed 2015 return.

To prevent a rejection, it's important that you do not split, allocate, or combine AGI amounts, even if doing so seems more logical to you.

If your return continues to decline don’t worry. You can still file a paper return by printing out copies of your federal and state returns and mailing them in.

Here are common examples:

  • A married couple filing separately this year, but jointly last year, will each enter the same AGI amount from their jointly-filed 2013 return.
  • A divorced taxpayer who filed jointly last year will enter the full AGI amount from last year's return, even if 100% of the income was earned by their ex-spouse.
If you don't have a copy of your 2015 return, you can download a free transcript from the IRS or call them toll-free at 1-800-908-9946.

Once you have your copy or official transcript in hand, refer to instructions below to locate your 2015 AGI.

The best and easiest way is to have last year's tax return.

  • Your AGI for 2018 is on line 7 of your Individual Tax Return FORM 1040.
  • If your income was low you can try to enter "0"
  • You can request a transcript Online: IRS Online Transcript
  • You can call the IRS:  1-800-829-1040
  • Contact your Local IRS Office:   Local IRS Offices

Or you can choose not to E-File and Mail your tax return in.

If you are trying to find your 2019 AGI, you can get this information a couple a different ways:

  • If you filed your 2019 taxes with TurboTax, sign in and go down to Your tax returns & documents. Select View adjusted gross income (AGI).
  • If you didn’t file your taxes with TurboTax in 2019, the best place to get last year's AGI is from the 1040 form you filed with the IRS. Look on page 1, line 8b.
