If I add SS income to my 2020 fed return can I estimate my 2021 tax due. Just started SS this year. Still work and same income as 2020?

Up to 85% of Social Security Retirement/Disability/Survivors benefits becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security reaches:

  • Married Filing Jointly - $32,000
  • Single or Head of Household - $25,000
  • Married Filing Separately - 0

You can use this TurboTax calculator to get an estimate of taxes owed or a tax refund - https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/calculators/taxcaster/

If you are using TurboTax Online,

Do not modify your tax return to do estimates or projections for next year.

Online only allows one tax return.

Instead use TurboTax CD/download program,

OR

Create a new online account to throw away.
