I was told that if I file my taxes with turbo tax that it was free. Which is a lie i clicked on free tax return and when I finished up they wanted to charge me $270?

TurboTax has a couple of versions of tax preparation software that are free.  That does not mean you can use any version of the software here for free.  You are posting from online Self-Employed, which costs $120.  State is another $50.  Not sure what else you added to get it up to $270.

If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons:

• Remove PLUS Help & Support
• Remove Pay With Your Refund
• Remove Premium Services
• Remove MAX Defend & Restore
• Remove a state

WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY?  I WANT THE FREE EDITION

The information that you can enter in Free Edition is pretty limited now.  Thanks to the new tax laws that began for 2018 returns, there are no more simple Form 1040EZ or 1040A's.  Everything goes on a Form 1040 that has three extra "schedules" with it, and if you need any of those schedules, you are not able to use the Free Edition.  Using the standard deduction instead of itemizing does NOT mean you will not need any of those schedules.

Yes. They overcharged me too. Premier was supposed to be $55 - but at checkout - it was $70.

No. I've done that and they said they couldn't do anything to give me their advertised price. I plan to write a letter about this
