An answer where exactly? Are you trying to claim medical expenses? You cannot use TT Free for that.
So paying anywhere from,$1.30 to,$ 25.00 a month isn't a medical expense???
Yes you can deduct any medical expenses you pay out of pocket that you are not reimbursed for. You enter the total for the year. Medical is an Itemized Deduction on Schedule A. The Free Edition does not have Schedule A or Deductions so you will have to upgrade to Deluxe.
But You can only deduct the amount of unreimbursed Medical Expenses you actually paid over 7.5% of your AGI. And then all your itemized deductions have to be more than the standard deduction to get any benefit (so you would only be getting the benefit of the amount that puts you over the standard deduction). And since the Standard Deduction is increased more people will not need to Itemize.
For 2020 the standard deduction amounts are:
Single 12,400 + 1,650 for 65 and over or blind (14,050)
HOH 18,650 + 1,650 for 65 and over or blind
Joint 24,800 + 1,300 for each 65 and over or blind
Married filing Separate 12,400 + 1,300 for 65 and over or blind
Or There is also The Turbo Tax Free File program which is free for federal and state. And has more forms than the Federal Free Edition, like Schedules A, B, C , D, E, F, EIC, H, K-1, SE, etc.
To qualify for the Free File website you just need to meet one of these 3 things.
AGI $39,000 or less.
Active duty military with AGI of $72,000 or less
OR qualify for EIC (earned income credit.)
In order to use the Free File program, you have to start it at a special website. Click on Sign in at the top right. It may let you continue your return so you don't have to start over.
