I recently filed my state and federal tax returns, received an email confirmation for both, but got an email today saying they have not been filed. Why?

What email confirmation did you get?  You should get 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. 

 

Double check if your efile File was Accepted.  You can check your efile status here

Or maybe you have another account.

Do you have more than one account?  It is possible you have an account from which you did not complete the return, and the email is coming to you because of that account.

Check your e-file status:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20a of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
