I received a check from IRS, I don't know why. I can't get a live person from IRS. I want to see if you can help. I don't know if the check is real or not?

The IRS will send you a letter explaining why they sent the check. You might not get the letter until a week or two after you got the check. Just hold on to the check until you get the letter.

the year should be on the check.  so you can go to irs website and review your transcript or view your account for that year.
