You can only include income and deductions in the earn earned or paid (unless you are a business on the accrual method of accounting).
You may not be required to file a return. The IRS website can help you figure that out. See here:
https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/do-i-need-to-file-a-tax-return
(Even if not required it is never a bad idea to file because that statue of limitations never starts to run if you don't file a return. Theoretically the IRS can come after you at any point if you don't file. Not likely if you don't have income that generates information returns. If you file the IRS has 3 years in most circumstances and they can't asses more tax. (6 years if you understate your income by a lot and forever if file a fraudulent return).

What kind of income? W2 or 1099Misc self employment? You have to file each year separately. Online is only good for 2019. There are several other questions that can affect if you need to file. Like your age and are you a dependent?
Do I need to file a return?
And you must report all your income no matter how small. Even $1 of bank interest. Unless you only have W2 income less than 12,200 for 2019. Then you only need to file to get back any withholding taken out.
