You cannot e-file a state return if the federal return was filed by mail. Your state return will also have to be filed by mail.
If the federal tax return was not e-filed then the state return cannot be e-filed, it can only be printed and mailed.
NEW JERSEY does not accept returns by mail. All returns must be efiled

New Jersey does not have a state mandated requirement that all tax returns must be e-filed.
Go to this New Jersey Division of Taxation website for the mailing address for tax returns with or without a payment due - https://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/njit18.shtml
Individuals can file by mail, but businesses are required to efile. The turbotax program even says so and if I print out a copy of the NJ corporate return, it is watermarked "reference only, do not file."
