I had to purchase software to do my home and business taxes for 2016. Does anyone know if I can use that same software to do my home and business taxes?

Do you mean that you want to use the same software to do your taxes for 2018? No, you can't do that. Each TurboTax software program is for only one specific year. To do your taxes for 2018 you have to purchase the 2018 software.

If you meant to ask whether you can use the same software for a different tax year, the answer is "no". 

The software for each tax year incurs a separate charge.
