I sent my tax return via mail back in the last week of March. I tried to check my status on the IRS website but it says they have no information on my refund. It has been the 8 weeks they recommended I waited and when I try to call it is always simply too many people are calling so we are going to hang up on you, try again later. Should I be concerned? What can I do?

Mailed returns take up to 6 months to process.
I'd stop calling until October. The IRS is woefully behind and 80% of the backlog is paper returns.
"As of May 20, 2022, we had 9.8 million unprocessed individual returns which include returns received before 2022, and new tax year 2021 returns. Of these, 2 million returns require error correction or other special handling, and 7.8 million are paper returns waiting to be reviewed and processed."
