I am being asked to input data from my 2018 return, specifically form 1040. However, I was then a non-resident alien and only filed 1040NR. How can I proceed?
The prompt appeared after I answered "Yes, I was required to itemize my deductions in 2018" in order to establish whether I need to pay tax on my 2018 North Carolina refund.

TurboTax needs the state and local taxes that you deducted when you filed your taxes last year. On Form 1040NR, this can be found on Schedule A, Line 1a.

Thank you for your reply. I am still confused about one thing:
- Me and my wife filed separately last year (we were not allowed to file jointly due to non-resident status) and filing jointly this year. Should I sum up all the values on BOTH of our 2018 returns?

Yes, use the sum of both of your numbers for this answer.
