How do I file just my federal return?

why not if it's complete? if you owe you shouldn't have to pay until the due date.  otherwise select mail for the state return.

When you're on the screen shot to file, UNCLICK the file my state and CLICK on file my state later.  I never file my state through Turbo Tax because I do multiple returns (only 1 state is free) and I don't want to pay their silly $25 state fee. I've already paid $80+ for the premium version and they don't need my money. I do my state on the official state tax site. It's a pain but I have the time and save money.
