Gifts and donations to charity

I input the amount for this item and it does not record...so it appears that I have no entry for gifts and donations to charity...this will make a big difference for tax due.

How are you filing? Where are you recording the item? It's got to rise above your standard deduction if you're itemizing.

The Cares Act allows taxpayers to deduct up to $300 as a charitable deduction when they do not itemize.

To enter your charitable cash donations in TurboTax follow these steps:

  1. Open your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the search box, search for donations and then select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer No when asked if you have an ItsDeductible account (even if the answer is yes).
  4. Answer Yes to Do you want to enter your donations for 2021?
  5. Follow the instructions to enter your donations.
