Entered bank information for federal and NYS refunds on the info sheets. Planning to Efile all tax returns. Currently the tax forms reflect the refund expected and the bank info. However, the filing instruction letters indicate that a refund check will be expected in 4-6 weeks. Last year, this filing instruction letter indicated that the refund would be direct deposited and confirmed the banking information.
Is this just a glitch and as long as the bank info is on the tax form the refund should arrive directly to the bank?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
No, there is not a glitch, however, you can check your refund method, by reviewing the 1040 line 35 or the Federal Information Worksheet, Part V. If it doesn't show there, you may need to update the software, How do I update my TurboTax CD/Download software p...

Thank you for your reply but I'm not using the online version of Turbo Tax. I am using the Deluxe CD -Windows edition. How do I check if I'm in Efile mode vs paper and mail mode? Can you provide the steps needed to change to efile in the version I'm using?
When using the Desktop Software:
Thank you! The federal and both states are set up for Efile. When I click through it does ask me to verify my bank info and then confirms that the refund will arrive via direct deposit. However, the Filing Instruction letter for Federal and 1 State (where there is a direct deposit refund) both indicate that a check will arrive. Versus the Filing Instruction letter for the 2nd state with an amount due confirms that the amount will be debited from my bank. Is this just a glitch in the letter format? I just don't want to have to watch for the refund check to arrive via USPS. Thanks!

Yep...1040 and Info Worksheets all show direct deposit of refunds. The Filing Instruction Letter does not. That is what I was trying to figure out why the letter does not agree to the return
Have you done the manual update on your software?
Yes, I update automatically when I log into the program at least until I file the returns. My software is up to date.
