While reviewing carryover data from 2024 to 2025, I find what I believe is an error. The 2024 State Estimates Information on the Federal Carryover Worksheet is showing the total amount of state estimated payments paid for tax year 2024. It should show only those state estimated payments made after 12/31/2024.
This data flows to State and Local Income Taxes on the Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet and is inflating that number incorrectly.

Yes there was another question for this. It's very early just wait for updates. See

Yep, thanks for the pointer to that thread.
Of course, it is extremely early, but the early days pioneers do need to be mentioning any bugs they find.
It is now after the ~1/8/2026 update and the carryover issue still has not been addressed. State Estimated Payments made in April 2024 and June 2024 are still being categorized as 2024 "Estimates paid after 12/31" and therefore automatically go into my 2025 Schedule A.
When will this be addressed?
@Jsteven408 I saw a post that said it didn't fix the existing return but if you transfer 2024 again into a new return it works right now. That makes sense to me. I'll have to update my program and try starting a new return.
Yes I updated my Windows Desktop Home & Business program and started a NEW return and transferred from 2024 again and my 2024 state estimated payments did NOT go to sch A. My first 2025 return still shows all my 2024 state estimates (April, June, Sept & Dec) on sch A.
Last post on this, I promise. UPDATE…..Today 1/8/26 I got an email from TurboTax Support saying to update the program and "Please go through your federal review/smart check portion of your software".
So I went through the Review and eventually came to a screen that asked…How much of your 2024 estimated state taxes did you pay in 2025? and it had my total 2024 state estimated payment amount listed. I changed it to zero and it updated my return and schedule A. So you don't have to start a new return and transfer from 2024 again.
Thanks. The check worked without re-entering previous entered data. Nicer that going to the carryforward worksheet and overriding the field for 2024 est state tax paid in 2025.
Still frustrating that this basic calculation used every year somehow got broken in this version.
