Can turbo tax verify my identity or do I have to do it through the irs?

TurboTax cannot verify your identity.  You have to do it through the IRS.  Call the number in your letter, or go to the website, or last resort call a local office and set up an appointment.

No TurboTax cannot verify your identity.   If you received a letter from the IRS to verify your identity you have to take care of that yourself.   TurboTax is only the software company that provided software for your self-prepared return.  TT cannot confirm that you used your own identity to file.
