purchased desktop cant use due to windows 10-so went online-can I still use to file additional family members

I purchased the desktop download version from Costco. It will not download because I am on windsows 10 and Windows says I cannot upgrade to 11. So turbo rtax said I have to do online, which  did. Now how do I do the rest of my family members returns ?

If you used the Desktop program before you may notice several differences and not like the online version.  It has less features and no Forms Mode.  You can only do 1 return per account.   Although you can use the same email address for 5 separate accounts.  Your return is only saved online so be sure to save both the .tax2025 data file and the pdf file to your computer when you are done.  In case you need to amend in the future or if you need a copy to get a loan or something.  You might not be able to access your online return when you need a copy.

Online is only good for 1 return per account.  Don’t use your account or you will overwrite your return and it will be gone.  And you have to pay for each account separately so it might get expensive.   You can use the same email address for 5 accounts.  You can start another return in TurboTax Online by:

1. Logging out if you are in your account
2. Choose what TurboTax Online product you want to use for the second return
3. Create your account screen
4. Set up a new login for the second return
5. Start working on the new return

Hello,

When I tried to create another account, it says that my email is already taken.  I also tried to select the option of using a different account, entered a new user ID, but since it’s the same email address, it continue to say my email address is already taken.  

Can 1 license code be used with different 5 email accounts?  Thanks!!

Sorry not anymore.  You need a separate email address for each account.   But wait,  you have a License Code?  For the Desktop download program or some stores are also selling a code for the Online version.

Did you install the program on your computer?  The Desktop program can do unlimited returns and efile 5.

My computer isn’t compatible because it doesn’t have Windows 11, so took me directly to the on-line version.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!!
