Problem using Turbo Tax to file Minnesota Homestead Credit

I used Turbo Tax to file for the Minnesota Homestead Property Tax Credit in both 2019 and 2020. When using Turbo Tax 2021 the program said I don't qualify, yet my income is less and my property taxes are higher. Is there a problem with Turbo Tax 2021? Do I need to file directly with the Mn Dept. of Rev. and not use TT 2021?

It depends. There may be some other disqualifying reason why you are not permitted to take credit. To qualify:

Have a valid Social Security Number
Own property classified as homestead (you own and live in the home)
Have paid or arranged to pay your property taxes

Go through the questions you answered in your Minnesota State return to see if you missed anything. Also it might be because you did not have enough tax liability in 2021 to take advantage of the credit based off of your income.
