Due to a miscalculation with TT premier live online, I was short of $10000 in estimated tax payment due. Luckily the desktop version confirmed that the difference was due to an excess calculation of $10K in Social Security Taxes on the online version. Now I am in a bad state:
1) I owe $10K and I am also being penalized for underpayment
My question is : today is last day for extension . TT desktop does not tell me what interest amount IRS will send me a few months from now. Instead of letting that intertest grow , can I pay some extra amount directly on IRS site to avoid the interest accumulating ?
Thanks much!
Kevin

You can pay all of part now and the IRS will sort it out. Paying now may avoid penalties.
