No, you are not eligible for the energy credit. The roof must have been installed by December 31, 2016.

Per ENERGY STAR  Tax Credits/ Rebates/ Financing/ Grants: The tax credit for roofs has been extended through December 31, 2016.  Regarding Timing:

  • Tax credit in effect in 2012, 2013 and 2014, 2015, and 2016. Must be installed in your "principal residence" between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2016.

These are entered in the Deductions & Credits section:
  1. Open your return, if you don't already have it open.
  2. In TurboTax, search for energy improvements. (Do not search for "energy credit," as this will take you to the wrong place in the program.)
  3. Click the "Jump to" link in the search results.
  4. At the bottom of the Energy-Saving Home Improvements screen, answer Yes and continue. Follow the on-screen instructions.
