Our 2015 1040 is on our home hard drive. We have the 2016 purchased disc. Can 2016 pick up all the info out of 2015 and if so, how?

The answers showing up all relate to turbo tax online. We are only using CDs.

On the computer which you used to prepare your 2015 tax return, please install the 2016 TurboTax program.

After installation, open the 2016 program. On the first page, Click on "Start a new return".

TurboTax will open a new page with: "Good news! We found your Tax info." with a list of 2015 tax returns that the program found in the default folder. Just click on "Transfer Return" next to the name of your return.

If you do not see your 2015 return on the page, then click on "Browse" at the bottom of the page to search for your return on your computer. TurboTax return files have the extension .tax2015. This happens when you have saved your 2015 return in a different folder other than the default folder used by TurboTax.
