What is causing this. I have tried a dozen times to open the program.

There is a problem with the latest update to the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions. TurboTax support is aware of the problem and working to correct.
Wait for a few hours and try again.

As of now you should be able to open the program, but you will not get the update. They are still working on fixing the problem with the update.
I get the same error for the Premier product on Mac. I can't even open the app given that it's a new download and it forces me to do an update.
