On my state return it keeps telling me I need to fix something and the box has to be >0 but I don't have anything to put in that box because it doesn't apply to me

Instead of putting a zero in the box have you tried to leave the box blank and then continue on and see if that will allow you to continue without getting the message that you need to fix something?
