NY State income tax snafu with turbotax

I filed  federal electronically but Turbotax notified me that their software had not been updated so now I cannot file my NY state tax without refiling the federal tax.  I paid Turbotax $42. with tax to file and now I have to redo my taxes, wait for a refund.  

I must file by mail now but the NY dept of taxation requires it to be filed electronically.

I HATE taxes and Turbotax let me down.

Bullet 4 under Important notes about the mandate

Reads:

'If you can't electronically file the return because it's not supported by your approved e-file software or it can't be filed on our website, then you aren't required to e-file it.'

 I received a message from Turbotax AND the NY tax folks that my electronic file was not valid because Turbotax had not updated the software (please tell me this before I purchase it!), so I filed by mail. Two days later my refund showed up.

Tis has been a MESS in time, expense and frustration.

I like filing early because I get my refund rather than loan it longer to the IrS.  However, this is impossible with Turbotax.
