The IRS and state revenue offices are two separate entities and process returns at different speeds. A few states have delayed processing refunds and have implemented new security checks to make sure that the people who are eligible for a refund truly are who they say they are.

To check the status of your state refund, please visit your states department of revenue website and follow the directions they have listed.

Not to worry!  Federal refunds always come faster than states--mainly because they process them more quickly.  Sometimes states are delayed due to money issues in the state coffers.  It is rare to have to wait more than 4-6 weeks for the state.
