Not to seem insensitive. But it has been a very difficult year with my father passing last year. But my question is. Is there not any forgiveness or tax breaks for that?

Sorry for your loss, but no. If he was your dependent you can still claim him for 2021.

Sorry, but the answer is no. A tax return is due for the year of death and there are no special deductions in the year of death.
