Not allowed to use my refund to pay for my efile?

When completing my taxes, it gives options to pay and it says that I am not eligible to pay using my refund. Why is this?

good - skip it - costs $40 extra fee and routes your refund thru a third party bank which can cause delays and confusion.  avoid all these refund gimmicks (5 days early, pay with refund etc)

There are several reasons that could cause this problem.

You must have a refund large enough to cover the TurboTax fees plus an additional fee for an independent bank to do "refund processing" fee ($40, or $45 in CA).

  • You must make a direct deposit to a single account.
  • The name on the bank account must match the name on the tax return.
  • You can't request a paper check.
  • You must E-file the return.
  • You must use a U.S. address.
  • You can't use the Allocation of Refund (Form 8888)
