not a first time filer, not sure where to ask the question. Cannot delete an unnecessary form.

I've used TurboTax since year1. This year it is hanging up on form 8812 child tax credit. We don't have children. I've never used form 8812. I continue to delete it but  every time I run the federal tax review, TurboTax insists I need to fill it out and won't tell me what the "other" issue it has found before I move to state taxes.

TurboTax has to ask every taxpayer this year if they received a child tax credit.  Some people not claiming children got it as well.  So please go back and check your answers on 'Did you receive the child tax credit?'

There are those who got the advanced child tax credit in 2021 based on their 2020 return but are not claiming a child on their 2021 return. It usually involves divorced parents who alternate claiming a child. So the program is checking for a tax payer who received advanced child tax credit in 2921 but is not claiming a child in 2021. In that case some of the credit might have to be relayed.  If you tell the program that you lived in the US more than half of the year and you didn’t receive advanced child credit you will clear the error.
