I did away with my trade name, the effective date wasn't until 2017. I had ZERO income under that TID or name at all in 2016. Do I still have to use the self-employed version of turbo tax?

No, as long as you had no business income or expenses, and no 1099-MISC.

No, as long as you had no business income or expenses, and no 1099-MISC.
