they have lived with us but she supports him. just don't know what the best way would be

No. A dependent may not have a dependent of her own. Furthermore, if he income is low enough for you to be able to claim her; she wouldn't get much child tax credit (or EIC)

You should be claiming you grandchild, if he lives with you.
