how do I edit my state tax return before it sends

Click on State on the left side of the online program screen.  The edit your state tax return.

To make changes to your tax return before you e-file it, you will click on the state tab and then walk through to the section where you need to make the changes.  If you are using the desktop version, the state tab will be at the top of your screen next to the federal tab. If you are using the online version, it will be on the left hand side of the screen. 

You can do this up until you  hit the Transmit my return button.  after that, you would need to amend your return to make any changes.
