Need to add 1099 cancellation of debt to income it will not let me do I put it as earned income????

It is not earned income. To enter it, click on Federal Taxes, Wages and Income. On the Let's check for income page, scroll all the way down to Less common income and expand that. It is entered in Miscellaneous Income.
