If you have a dependent child you can select Widower.  If you do not have a dependent and have not remarried then you file as Single.

If you used your current TurboTax online account in the past to file as Married Filing Jointly, then you will need to create a new account with a new User ID to file your tax return as Single.

So sorry for your loss.   A qualified surviving spouse is a widowed spouse who is still supporting a qualified dependent child during the two years following the death of a spouse.   If you do not have a qualified dependent child or step-child that you are claiming as a dependent, you file Single.

For the year that your spouse passed away you could file a joint tax return.   But for 2024, unless you have a qualified dependent to claim, your filing status changes to Single.   It is best to start a new account with a new user ID.   It is too difficult to delete the embedded information from a spouse if you use the same account that was used for past joint returns.
